The opening of a popular fashion store in Perth will create 20 jobs.
Retailer H&M officially launches in the St John’s Shopping Centre as part of an ambitious multimillion-pound revamp. In total, more than £3.5 million will be invested in transforming the centre into a high fashion hotspot.
As well as bringing shoppers back to the Fair City, the proposals set out by Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) will also generate up to 40 new jobs.
Work started earlier this year to extend two of the centre’s larger units, creating additional space on the first and second floors. River Island has already occupied one of these units, and now the second is being taken on by H&M.
The new store opens at 11am today and all those waiting in the queue will be given a 25% discount on purchases made on the day, as well as a goodie bag.
Anyone shopping at H&M over the next two days can also enter a free prize draw to win a pampering package worth over £1,200.
This includes a session with Perthshire image consultancy Integro and a £500 shopping spree in the St John’s Centre, as well as VIP tickets to Macbeth at Perth Theatre and personal training sessions.
