Perth kirk’s bells ring out to the music of Robert Burns
ByThe Courier Reporter
Perth’s Carillonneur has marked the celebration of Scotland’s most famous poet by playing some of his popular music on the bells of St John’s Kirk.
Dr Ian Cassells played some of Robert Burns’ ballads and finished with music that he wrote himself, titled ‘Postlude’.
The piece was lost and Dr Cassells, who is considered one of the best bell ringers in Britain, only recently rediscovered the manuscript, and this was the first time it has been played since 1995.
