Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance in dramatic hilltop rescue

A poorly hillwalker sparked a dramatic rescue operation after becoming unwell during a trek up the Ochils.
Members of the Ochils Mountain Rescue Team were called to the scene on the outskirts of Dollar to assist the casualty on Saturday afternoon.
They were joined for the first time by Sotland’s Charity Air Ambulance, which transported the climber from the hilltop.
Chief executive of the Perth-based organisation, Gavin Davey, said: “We lifted a patient who was feeling unwell from the hill top. As the light was fading, they had to be taken to Perth Airport. They were picked up by an ambulance and transported to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.
“This is the first hill rescue we’ve done ourselves and it was fairly straightforward. It shows how well training with other people works.
“This was a real success and, with winter approaching, more people will be going out on the hills.”
An Ochils Mountain Rescue spokesperson confirmed that 15 volunteers were involved in the two-hour operation.
