Scots are being offered a tantalising glimpse of two staggering sculptures that will help transform the landscape of central Scotland.
The Kelpies are the creation of world-renowned artist Andy Scott and will form part of the £43 million Helix land transformation project between Falkirk and Grangemouth.
A pair of three metre-tall models of the horses’ heads went on display in Perth’s Horsecross Plaza, where they caused quite a stir.
Impressive works in their own right, the sculptures are, however, just a taster for the real things, which are already taking shape in Falkirk.
The 30-metre steel-plated sculptures have been created to pay homage to Scotland’s heavy horses, which played such a vital role in farming and industry..embed-container { position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%; padding-top: 30px; height: 0; overflow: hidden; max-width: 100%; height: auto; } .embed-container iframe, .embed-container object, .embed-container embed { position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; }

It is thought the Kelpies and the wider Helix development will help attract in excess of 350,000 visitors a year to the Falkirk area.
It will feature a lagoon, wetland, forest, event space, more than 27 kilometres of paths, as well as a host of public artworks.
