Football legend Sir Alex Ferguson got a warm welcome in Perth at the weekend from the fans of two clubs close to his heart.
The former Manchester United manager was a guest of honour at Saturday’s McDiarmid Park clash between St Johnstone and Aberdeen to mark a memorable event from his playing career.
St Johnstone chairman Steve Brown had invited Ferguson as the 50th anniversary approaches of a victory over Rangers at Ibrox in which the young former Saints striker played a major role.

It was back on December 21 1963 that Ferguson hit the headlines with a hat-trick in the 3-2 triumph.
He scored 22 goals in 45 games for St Johnstone between 1960 and 1964.
The visit of Aberdeen was appropriate as Ferguson guided them to domestic and European silverware in the 1980s.
