A professional golfer from Fife has been remanded in custody ahead of a trial next month.
Appearing from custody at Perth Sheriff Court, former Scottish strokeplay champion David Downie was remanded until his trial on March 21.
He denies breaking a court bail condition not to approach or contact his partner by calling her on the phone and attending at and outside her home.
Downie, 40, of Arthur Place, Springfield, denies being at her house on Saturday, just 12 days after the bail condition was imposed at the same court.
It is alleged that he was subject to three further bail orders at the time.
Sheriff Michael Fletcher told Downie that, in the circumstances of the case, he would refuse bail, and the golfer was remanded to Perth Prison pending his trial next month.
As he was being led away, Downie said: “Absolutely disgusting. You should be ashamed of yourself. Absolutely ashamed and appalled.”
Solicitor Pauline Cullerton, representing Downie, had asked for bail.
She had told the court her client had been suffering health difficulties for which he was keen to seek professional help.
