Roadworks on Pitlochry bypass to mean delays for drivers
ByThe Courier Reporter
Drivers on the A9 will face delays and detours as resurfacing work begins in Highland Perthshire.
Transport Scotland is spending nearly £700,000 on improvements to the Pitlochry bypass.
Work, to begin on Sunday March 2 and due to run until March 21, will be carried out from 8pm to 6am, Sunday to Friday, in a bid to minimise the impact on traffic.
Temporary traffic lights and a convoy system with a 10mph speed restriction will be in place. A 30mph speed limit will be in effect outwith working hours.
Transport Scotland has, however, said it will be necessary to close the Foss Road junction at some points to allow work to take place in that area. This work is provisionally scheduled for Mondays March 3 and 10 and Tuesdays March 11 and 18 and a signed diversion route will be in place.
BEAR Scotland’s Eddie Ross said: “This substantial investment in the A9 will not only improve the surface, it will also reduce the need for further maintenance.”
