More than 500 walkers descended on Scone Palace at the weekend to raise money for Breast Cancer Care.
Women travelled from as far as Lossiemouth to join participants from Tayside and across Scotland as they endeavoured to walk five, 10 or 20 miles around the palace grounds on Saturday.
This was the seventh anniversary of the Scone Palace Pink Ribbonwalk, with the organisers hoping to raise £193,000 from the event.
This year’s shorter route option of five miles allowed children to take part in what proved to be a great family day out, despite the changeable weather.
Irene Pullar, 53, of Dundee, was part of a six-strong group called The Jets.
“We always do a walk every couple of years,” she said. “The last time, we did the Twilight walk so we decided to do the Ribbonwalk this time.”Click here for a full photo galleryHer friend Audrey Morrison, 54, of Dundee, said: “We are walking for a number of people whose lives have been affected by cancer. We decided to do the 10-mile walk, as five seemed too short and 20 was too long.”
Dawn Stanley, events project manager for Breast Cancer Care Scotland, said: “This year approximately 600 people living in Perthshire will receive the devastating news that they have breast cancer. However, with the help of all the wonderful walkers who took part at Scone Palace we can continue to offer vital support to people affected by breast cancer.
“It really was a fantastic day.”
She added: “Breast Cancer Care is the only UK-wide support charity helping the thousands of people who wake up to the harsh reality of breast cancer every day.”
