ByThe Courier Reporter
Police are carrying out extra patrols in Perth, after a teenager was sexually assaulted.
The 16-year-old was attacked while walking along a footpath on the east side of Dunkeld Road, near the motor mile, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The man responsible is described as being white, aged between 20 and 26, of slim build and between 5ft 10in and 6ft 5in tall.
Footage from CCTV is being reviewed and door-to-door inquiries are being made.
Chief Inspector Mike Whitford, in charge of local policing, was keen to reassure residents.
He said: “This is a very delicate inquiry and one which has undoubtedly raised fear and alarm within the local community.
“I would like to reassure people that incidents of this nature are very rare in Perth and that we are doing all we can to ensure that the person responsible for this crime is arrested.”
Anyone who has information that may assist officers with their inquiries can contact police by calling 101.
