Police appeal following assault on Perth taxi driver

Police are investigating an assault on a taxi driver in Perth on New Year’s Eve.

Appealing for information Ace Taxis Perth posted an account of the incident on social media.

“One of our drivers was viciously attacked and assaulted last night around 5am in Ballantine Place, Perth, while dropping off a customer in the street,” they said, calling it “an unprovoked attack”.

“Our driver was punched in the face several times behind the wheel.”

They said the customer intervened to stop the assault but the vehicle was then damaged.

“This was a frightening experience for both the passenger and driver,” said the firm.

They appealed for anyone with information to contact Police Scotland.
