A bid has been launched to secure a £400 million treasure chest that could help improve Tayside and Fife.
Dundee City Council leaders have held talks with Angus, Perth and Kinross and Fife councils as they consider applying to the UK Government for a “city deal”.
Launched by Westminster in 2011, the city deal programme aims to give local authorities “greater resources and financial freedoms” to drive economic growth.
If the bid here is successful, it is anticipated the funding could help improve public transport in the area, pay for new building projects and provide employment.
The Scottish Cities Alliance has indicated a city deal involving Dundee, Angus, Perth and Kinross and Fife could potentially land funding of around £400m.
Tim Allan, president of the Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce, described the prospect as “very exciting”.
Once an agreement has been reached, work will begin to compile a list of projects.
