Ban for London businessman who drove through Luncarty at twice speed limit

The owner of an online company who drove through a Perthshire village at twice the speed limit has been banned from driving for four months.
Thomas Fenwick, 42, of Golborne Mews, London, was also fined £300 when he appeared at Perth Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
Fenwick admitted speeding at 60mph through Luncarty on July 28 and having no licence or insurance when he committed the offence.
Depute John Malpass said: “At 6pm, the police were on patrol and saw the accused’s vehicle, which appeared to be travelling at excessive speed.
“He was overtaking a slower moving vehicle and logged a speed of 60 miles per hour.”
Fenwick defended himself in court.
He maintained that he needed to keep his driving licence because his elderly mother lived in Durham and he was the only person available to drive her round.
However, his plea failed.
Imposing a driving ban, Sheriff Michael Fletcher pointed out: “This was double the speed limit you were doing.”
