An Aladdin’s cave of antiques and collectibles is coming under the hammer in Perth.

A lifetime’s collecting and dealing left a fascinating legacy when a local man passed away.

From his shop in Milnathort, the man sold to the public while in his attached living quarters he kept a vast array of personal pieces.

Clocks were a particular favourite and when auctioneer Nick Burns was called in he found over 200 of them.

“It was like walking into a time warp of shop come home,” said Mr Burns.

“There were objects long covered in dust, on tops of cabinets and in attics and cellars.

“It was an Aladdin’s cave of all sorts of pieces a life time’s collection. He lived behind and above the shop and we are selling everything from his stock and his own personal cache.

“One of the things he was interested in was clocks, there are more of them than we have ever had in a sale.

“Mantel, carriage and wall clocks along with wrist watches were all part of his collection. They are from the early 19th century to an arts and crafts octagonal wag on the wall clock.

“He had a good eye across the board but as with many with people involved with the trade the best things had to be sold to pay the bills.

“It has been a privilege to handle this sale of a local dealer’s stock and home contents.”

The man had an eclectic collection including guitars, ceramics and furniture which is all be sold on Thursday July 23 from 10.30am at Lindsay Burns Auctioneers, King Street, Perth.

The antique dealer’s collection makes up 500 of the sale’s 800 lots and can be viewed on Wednesday July 22 from 9am to 5pm with limited viewing on the day of the sale.

The sale also contains a good selection of whisky gathered from various sellers and a collection of Victor, Hotspur and Hornet DC Thomson comics from the 1960s and 70s.
