Woman stole bank card from friend of her mum

Woman stole bank card from friend of her mum

A woman stole a bank card from her mother’s friend after being invited in for tea.

Ann Taylor was welcomed into the woman’s home as a thank-you for giving her a lift to hospital.

However, after Taylor had left, the woman discovered her bank card was missing and called the police.

Jim Eodanable, depute fiscal, said Taylor had provided the “chauffeur service” after her mother had offered the woman a lift.

On her return home, the woman offered them hospitality as a thank you.

He said: “The complainer provided tea and biscuits.

“Some time after that she became aware her bank card wasn’t where it was supposed to be.”

Taylor was later caught on CCTV using the card to withdraw hundreds of pounds from the woman’s account.

Defence solicitor David Holmes said: “She committed this offence and accepts she must be punished for it.

“She describes herself as ‘ashamed’.”

The 51-year-old had previously admitted stealing the bank card from a Perthshire property on June 8 last year and using it to take £350 from an ATM on Crieff High Street on the same day. She also admitted trying to take more money at an ATM on the town’s Gavelmore Street the next day.

Taylor, of Lintibert Terrace, Muthill, was sentenced to 140 hours of unpaid work and ordered to repay the £350.
