Perth College is campaigning for a spot on the Fair City’s forthcoming Monopoly board.
Beating 19 other Scottish destinations, Perth was chosen to have its own version of the board game.
Now, the competition lies within the city, as locals will be voting over which famous landmarks and attractions will grace the board.
Perth College principal and chief executive Margaret Munckton said: “It is wonderful that Perth and Kinross has won the vote out of the 20 regions competing.
“We have a lovely campus in the city centre, which is used daily by thousands of people. Whilst contributing to our economy and society, of course we deserve a place on the board.”
Perth College opened in 1961 as Perth Further Education Centre and is the largest partner in Scotland’s newest university, the University of the Highlands and Islands. It educates more than 8,000 local, national and international students.
Graham Barnes, Monopoly executive, said there had been numerous proposals on how to personalise the board.
“Suggestions for game pieces include a kilt, a haggis and a scotch pie,” he said.
“We are trying to match up with the original game, so Oxford Street could be a local shopping centre, Whitehall could be a local centre of government and the Angel Islington could be an art gallery.
“We are expecting Scone Palace to end up in a good position because that has already had some votes.
“We welcome organisations encouraging their staff and social media followers to vote for them.”
Voting for Perth and Kinross landmarks to take their place on the board opened yesterday and will continue until June 7.
Nominations for landmarks to fill the board along with any other suggestions can be sent to perth@winningmoves.co.uk or at www.facebook.com/perthmonopoly or via post to Perth Monopoly, Winning Moves UK, 7 Praed Street, London W2 1NJ.
