Perth journalist recovering in China after heart attack

A Perth man is recovering in hospital in China after suffering a heart attack on holiday.

Journalist Les Stewart underwent emergency surgery in a Beijing hospital after he was taken ill aboard the Royal Caribbean luxury cruise ship Voyager of the Seas.

The ship returned to port for the 66-year-old who was on holiday with wife Nancy to receive urgent medical attention.

Mr Stewart is in a comfortable condition after having stents inserted and will remain in hospital until fit to travel home.
