Council bosses are to replace a street sign after giving an incorrect spelling to housing developers.
One of the streets in the complex of new homes on the outskirts of Blairgowrie was named after respected local painter David Farquharson.
However, signs on the Rosemount Meadows estate bears an additional A, rendering the spelling “Farquaharson”.
Four signs bearing the error have been in place since before the first residents moved into the street last August.
Miller Homes, the company building the estate, were supplied a list of local artists to name the streets after by Perth and Kinross Council, and this contained the errant A.
The mis-spelling was spotted by a distant descendant of David Farquharson proprietor of the Horn milk bar, Kenny Farquharson when he took part in the New Year fun run in Blairgowrie.
He said: “People frequently mis-spell our surname, so that’s probably why this wasn’t picked up. There obviously isn’t a Farquharson working for the council.”
Residents on the street said they were aware of the mistake.
One homeowner, who did not want to be named, said: “It’s bad enough that it’s Farquharson without it being mis-spelled every time we give our address out we have to spell it.”
