Football coach took cocaine to T in the Park ‘to manage the pace’
ByThe Courier Reporter
A 57-year-old girls’ football coach claimed pressure from a group of youngsters was behind his decision to buy drugs at T in the Park.
Andrew Machray was making his first trip to the festival when security staff recovered a bag of cocaine from his pocket on July 14.
In a letter to Perth Sheriff Court, self-employed Machray, of Burns Street, Crossgates, in Fife, said: “I was attending a weekend camping festival for the first time.
“Being too old to manage the pace I foolishly listened to bad advice from some younger guys. They told me to ‘get some coke’ as it would keep me going.
“Not having ever done this before and under peer pressure I thought ‘it’s only going to be one day so why not give it a bash’.
Sentence was deferred until October 15.
