A Fife man jailed for viciously attacking his former girlfriend left sinister voicemail messages from Perth Prison threatening further violence.
Reece Smith, 22, received a 24-month jail sentence last July after an attack on his former girlfriend left her with cracked ribs, a burst eardrum and a footprint embedded in her face.
At Perth Sheriff Court on Thursday, Smith admitted sending Joanne Harrison threatening messages from Perth Prison between April 6 and April 13 last year.
Smith pleaded guilty to telephoning her on an excessive number of occasions, repeatedly making telephone calls to her and leaving voicemail messages which contained threats of violence and offensive language.
Smith was described as having “serious” anger management problems after he was found guilty following a trial of assaulting Miss Harrison on March 6 last year at Charleston Drive, Dundee.
He poured a bottle of wine over her, seized her by the hair and pulled her to the floor, repeatedly slapping, punching and kicking her on the head and body.
He was also convicted of repeatedly standing on her, knocking her unconscious and throwing a glass at her which struck her on the body.
Miss Harrison told the court she had feared for her life during the attack.
Sheriff Donald Ferguson heard that Smith, who had been released on a supervised release order three weeks ago, has had no contact with the complainer since the matter occurred.
He deferred sentence for a social work report and Smith, of Clark Road, Inverkeithing, was released on bail.
