An inmate at Perth Prison had to be removed from his cell this morning when a fire broke out.
A spokesman for Scottish Fire and Rescue said: “We attended a small fire in a prisoner’s cell at Perth Prison at 6.11am. The prisoner was removed from his cell and firefighters used two breathing apparatus and CO2 to put out the fire.
“They also used thermal imaging equipment to see if the fire had spread but it had not.”
He added no one was injured in the incident.
A spokesman for the Scottish Prison Service confirmed it was a “small cell fire” but added they could not comment on individual prisoners.
