Coach firm kept on by Perth and Kinross Council despite faulty school buses
ByKirsty McIntosh
A coach company responsible for transporting children to Perthshire schools has been allowed to keep its council contract despite a string of safety failures.
Smith and Sons Coaches, whose routes include ferrying pupils to Blairgowrie High, were hauled before the Scottish Traffic Commissioner for the second time in five years last month. The hearing was told a number of vehicles in the fleet had been found to have defects, including faulty seat belts, leaking air brakes and other mechanical issues.
A parent told The Courier: “It’s really concerning that the proper checks weren’t being carried out.”
