Police searching for an elderly woman missing from a Crieff care home say a body has been found.
Dog units and a helicopter spent much of New Year’s Day assisting the search for 84-year-old Euphemia Clark.
She was reported missing at around 6.15am on Thursday from Dalnaglar Care Home, Comrie Road, Crieff. The last known sighting of her is believed to have been at around 10.30am in the Coldwells Road area and police said they were “very concerned” for her welfare.
On Friday night, police said a body had been found but has yet to be formally identified.
A spokesman said: “As part of efforts to trace missing person Euphemia Clark, 84, from Crieff, police searches have found a body within the town of Crieff.
“The body is still to be formally identified, but the family of Euphemia Clark has been made aware.”
The search helicopter was earlier seen circling over St Mary’s Walk which runs alongside the river Earn and also Laggan Hill, both popular areas with walkers.
A spokesman for Balhousie Care Group, who operate the Dalnaglar care home, earlier confirmed Euphemia has been a resident for some time.
“We are obviously concerned for her safety and would encourage people to assist the police in finding her,” they said.
