Perth College nursery nurse caught carrying knife in street

A nursery nurse has been handed a warning by social work bosses after she was discovered to be carrying a knife in the street.
Lyndsey Hayes was found carrying a knife in a public place on June 13 last year while employed as a nursery nurse at Perth College.
The Scottish Social Services Council said that was “incompatible with the conduct expected of someone registered with the SSSC”.
In a written decision the council’s conduct sub-committee said she had “caused alarm” to people who saw her “walking along the street with a knife in her hand”.
However, because the incident didn’t involve service users, was outside work and was “alleged to have occurred due to Hayes being placed in a difficult and frightening situation” they opted not to strike her off.
Instead a warning has been placed on the nurse’s SSSC registration for the next six months after she admitted the misconduct last month.
