A new bus service should help Kinross commuters returning from work in the Scottish capital.
Passengers and politicians had reacted with anger when Citylink announced they would be slashing tea-time services coming back from Edinburgh, with some claiming they would be effectively “stranded” after finishing work.
But their questions may have now been answered with Stagecoach announcing a new hourly bus service which includes trips from Edinburgh to Kinross at 4.35pm, 5.15pm and 6.05pm.
Andrew Jarvis, managing director of Stagecoach East Scotland, said: “Our award winning express network offers luxury and great value travel and we’re pleased we can now offer these coach services to people in Perthshire.
“Offering this new coach link opens up further travel opportunities for people in the Perthshire area.”
A spokesperson for Stagecoach East Scotland said: “From November 23, we are extending our X55 service which currently operates between Edinburgh and Dunfermline. The extended route will serve Kinross, Milnathort, Bridge of Earn and Perth, offering 12 journeys per day to and from Edinburgh, Mondays to Saturdays.”
Councillor Willie Robertson, one of the representatives for the Kinross-shire ward, said he has written to the Minister for Transport, Derek Mackay MSP, to ask for better information to be provided for users of long distance buses at Park and Ride facilities.
