Dog lovers from across Perth banded together at the weekend to find a missing pet.
Rescue dog Dolly went missing on Wednesday night near Goodlyburn Primary School in Perth.
The next four days sparked a search that involved dozens of people, dogs and even a microlight plane.
Dolly was sighted as far apart as Huntingtower and Perth Crematorium but as the days passed owner Stevie Keenan grew less and less hopeful of finding her.
However on Sunday he spotted Dolly on Perth’s North Inch and was delighted when she came bounding up to him.
Stevie said he was touched that so many people had helped look for his beloved pet.
Posting online he said: “After four nights and four days we finally have Dolly back home where she belongs. I couldn’t have done it without the help from all of you kind people who have been following the posts since Dolly disappeared.
“My phone has been going non-stop since it happened with sightings and people wanting to help.
“I am eternally grateful to you all and it shows that there are some truly wonderful people out there.”
He added: “Although Dolly’s adventure has caused me and my family sleepless nights, it has had its good points as well.
“By that I mean we have now made some new friends and just because this is over it doesn’t mean we have to lose touch.
“I don’t know what made Dolly run off but after she recognised me today at the North Inch and came running for cuddles I knew all the running about was worth it.
“Dolly is now back home, she looks thinner a bit dirty and very tired. She has had a wash and is now sleeping and I think it may take her a few days to recuperate.”
Dolly’s story was shared hundreds of times on the Missing Pets in Perth and Kinross Facebook page.
Page administrator Katie McCandless said: “I just want to thank everyone for all the support you give this page and to the families of missing pets. In a time which is really stressful and upsetting for missing pets’ families. You have all shown such kindness and compassion and given them some much needed support which they will never forget.
“When I set up this page I never knew what to expect but it’s been amazing to see it grow into something which I think has become quite valuable to the pet community of Perth and Kinross.”
