Breast Cancer Care is urging people across Courier Country to get behind the charity by signing up for this year’s annual Pink Ribbonwalk.
The major fundraiser will be on Saturday May 16, starting from the grounds of Scone Palace before venturing into the Perthshire countryside.
It is returning for its seventh year and this year there is an option to walk a new, shorter five-mile route, as well as the 10-mile and 20-mile options.
Among those taking part this year will be Christine Cunningham, 42, who lives in Kinghorn and runs a beauty salon in Kirkcaldy.
It was in 2013 that she discovered multiple lumps and had to undergo several lumpectomies and radiotherapy. She has now been given the all clear.
“I am absolutely fine,” Christine said. “What I would stress is the importance of self-checking and self-examination.
“If you find anything a bit different, seek medical attention.”
Through her work she meets many women who are going through similar health problems to those she experienced and is able to provide support.
In recognition of the help she received with information from Breast Cancer Care, Christine is taking part in the 20-mile route at Scone, along with a couple of friends, and hopes to add to the £8,000 she has already raised for charity.
“For me, it is a great way of fundraising and making your lifestyle more healthy,” she added.
