Two people were taken to hospital after a three-car smash which shut down one of Scotland’s busiest motorways.
The accident, involving a dark blue Maserati sports car, happened on the M90 near the Crook of Devon turn-off this morning.
One person was airlifted to hospital by Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance, while another was taken away by road.
The pair were rescued from their Maserati which came to rest in a field after careering off the southbound carriageway and ploughing through a hedge.
A Nissan Micra and Ford Kia were also involved in the smash, although it is understood both drivers were not seriously hurt and checked over at the scene.
Emergency services responded to a 999 call just before 10am.
Police locked down both carriageways of the busy commuter route to make room for the SCAA helicopter, based at Perth Airport.
A police spokeswoman said: “We received an emergency call at about 9.40am. The accident happened between junctions six and nine.”
She said the injured driver and passenger of the Maserati both suffered broken arms.
“Their injuries are not thought to be life threatening,” she said.
The route was closed for about two hours, causing major tailbacks at either side. It was eventually re-opened once the carriageways were clear at 11.40am.
