Power restored at Stanley after hundreds left without electricity

A power cut left around 1000 Stanley residents without electricity this morning.

Engineers from SSE were called to the Perthshire town just after 10.30am and within 45 minutes all but 260 locals were back online.

A spokesman from the Perth-based energy firm said: “We are doing everything we can to resolve this and have rerouted the electricity to ensure the vast majority have power.

“We are investigating what caused this as there doesn’t seem to be any obvious damage to supplies.”

The problem was fixed and power restored to the remaining homes at around 2pm.
