A Perthshire community group is celebrating after scooping a top award in the Britain in Bloom competition.
At a ceremony in Sunderland, Coupar Angus was presented with a gold award as winners of the large village category.
“Coupar Angus Pride of Place is delighted and proud to have such a tremendous accolade for their town,” said Anne Easson, chairwoman of the Pride of Place group.
“The whole community worked with us with such determination to succeed for a second time.
“We also received great support from Perth and Kinross Council, it has been a fantastic experience with strong community support.
“The town were very proud to welcome the judges as we all felt that the town could not have looked better.”
There was another success for Perthshire with Muthill achieving silver-gilt in the village category at the awards, which were hosted by television presenter and gardening expert James Alexander-Sinclair.
Susan Crawford, chairwoman of Muthill in Bloom, said: “Representing Scotland in the national finals of Britain in Bloom is an honour in itself no matter what the outcome.
“The joy of watching all those involved, of all ages, is great.
“Being an extremely small hard-working committee we rely on the support of so many others to allow us the opportunity to participate in this event.”
The Britain in Bloom with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) awards ceremony is a chance to celebrate the work carried out by volunteers to recognise excellence, innovation and a commitment to keeping the UK’s villages, towns and cities clean, green and beautiful.
The Britain in Bloom with the RHS judging panel met with representatives of each finalist through the summer to assess each of the 70 Bloom campaigns.
Mr Burnett said: “This has been a vintage year for Britain in Bloom with communities across the country coming together to create wonderful floral displays that benefit not just the individuals involved, but their communities and the wider environment.”
