Perthshire man Allan Seggie, who was well-known in motor sports circles, has died aged 92.
Born in Burrelton, Mr Seggie attended Blairgowrie Hill Primary.
During the war he became an apprentice grocer and joined the Home Guard until old enough to join the armed forces, where he served as a despatch rider with the RASC attached to 51st Highland Division.
Post-war, he competed successfully in every kind of motorcycle sport while working as a sales manager for McLeans Motorcycles of Dundee.
He was a founder member of Strathmore sporting motor club.
He married Vida Donaldson in 1954.
Mr Seggie continued his sales career with Speedwell Oil before joining the Co-op and becoming its last mobile grocer in Blairgowrie.
After retiring at 82 he looked after Vida until she passed away in 2002.
Mr Seggie continued to be a big presence at family gatherings and outings and enjoyed any event that included music and dancing and motor sports.
He was an honorary member of the Scottish Classic Motorcycle Club and an active member of Glenisla Classic and Vintage Vehicle Club.
He was told only a few weeks ago about the illness from which he would not recover. His family were able to look after him at the home in which he had lived for more than 50 years.
He was determined to make it to Hogmanay for the planned party.
Although confined to bed by this time, at his request 17 family members squeezed into his bedroom for a final family sing-song.
He is survived by his children Jean, Margaret, Avril and Allan.
