An 80-year-old motorist has been banned from the road after he failed to see an oncoming car and crashed into it.
Alan Lyon was told he would not be able to drive ever again unless he managed to pass the extended driving test.
But Perth Sheriff Court was told that Lyon had decided not to get behind the wheel again and had handed his driving licence back to the DVLA.
The court heard that he was entering the A93 from a minor road and simply pulled out into the path of an oncoming car as he had not seen it approaching.
The occupants of the car he hit at the junction with the A984 in Perthshire were injured as a result of the crash on 27 June last year.
Lyon, Mains Drive, Dundee, admitted driving his Seat Leon carelessly and failing to maintain proper observation as he pulled onto the main Perth to Blairgowrie road.
He admitted pulling out when it was unsafe to do so and causing a collision with a Peugeot 208 which left a number of people injured.
Lyon was disqualified until he sits and passes the extended driving test and was fined 500 pounds by Sheriff Lindsay Foulis.
