A Perth man who threatened to kill and disfigure his own mother has been fined £400.
Christopher McPhie, 36, of Tay Street, left the woman so terrified that she fled from her home and sought refuge in a neighbour’s house.
Perth Sheriff Court heard that McPhie suffers from schizophrenia and had recently been in Murray Royal Hospital.
He arrived at his mother’s address about 5.30pm on May 7 in a taxi.
He shouted to her: “That’s me back” presumably referring to his stay in hospital.
However, he later became angry and agitated and his speech became so incomprehensible that his mother could not understand him.
McPhie allegedly shouted at his mother: “You hated me my whole life. It’s your turn. I’m going to kill you.”
He was said to be acting aggressively, clenching his fists and waving his arms around.
When McPhie was in the bathroom, his mother took the opportunity to flee the house.
When police officers arrived he was sitting on the doorstep of the flat in an agitated state.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis told McPhie: “Your behaviour, to put it bluntly, was unpleasant but you haven’t been in trouble as far as this court is concerned for a considerable amount of time.”
McPhie admitted that on May 7, at an address in Perth, he shouted, swore, uttered threats of violence and conducted himself in an aggressive manner.
