A ballgown inspired by Hollywood and produced by an aspiring young designer has proved a hit at a prestigious fashion show.
Joanne Baillie from Bankfoot had the chance to shine at Glasgow Clyde College’s annual bridal and eveningwear exhibition with her frock, which drew inspiration from the hit movie Pretty Woman.
The 24-year-old, who is studying HND fashion technology, said she was delighted by how well her design was received by industry insiders.
“I’ve always loved fashion and so I was delighted when I was given the opportunity to design and make an evening dress as part of my college course,” the former Perth Grammar School pupil said.
“My dress was inspired by Julia Roberts in the film Pretty Woman and I’m really pleased with how it turned out.
“It was great to be able to show it off to the public and get feedback from people who already work in the fashion industry.”
Joanne said she hoped to follow in the footsteps of fellow college graduates, who include Top Shop collaborator Louise Gray and Charlotte Helyar, who is a print designer for Stella McCartney.
