A car that once belonged to Sir Winston Churchill sold for £51,000 at an auction in the Carse of Gowrie.
Morris Leslie Vehicle Auctions in Errol became the centre of attention for classic car enthusiasts at the weekend with bidding for the green 1964 Morris Oxford Saloon starting at £35,000.
It had been estimated to fetch between £25,000-£35,000 but was eventually bought for £51,000 by an unnamed bidder from Yorkshire, to “extend his collection”.
The car, with the number plate 6000 KP, was registered in Churchill’s name on May 12 1964 and was the last car he bought before he died in 1965.
There have only been a handful of owners since his death, with their names detailed in the log book that is also signed by the man who was Prime Minister during the dark days of the Second World War.
