Festive shoppers have been given an early Christmas present courtesy of Perth and Kinross Council.
The local authority has decided to once again offer some free parking in its car parks.
Those parking in the council-run sites in Perth, Blairgowrie, Crieff, Dunkeld and Pitlochry will not be charged after 2pm on Thursdays and Fridays.
The scheme, which runs until January 29, started on Thursday but does not apply to car parks operated by Smart Parking or the car parks at Bell’s Sports Centre and the Rodney Sports Centre.
On-street parking is also excluded from the scheme.
Councillor John Kellas, convener of the council’s enterprise and infrastructure committee, said: “This scheme is a demonstration that the council is committed to supporting local businesses and the local economy in general.
“Free After Two is now a key sign that the festive shopping season is coming to Perth and that’s why we’ve decided to repeat the scheme.
“Free After Two parking also supports the Winter Festival activities that are being held in Perth over the coming months.
“For all these reasons I am very happy that the scheme is running again this year. I hope Christmas shoppers and festive visitors to Perth and Kinross will take full advantage of the offer.”
The car parks included are:
Short stay: Mill Street, Milne Street, Library East and West, Carpenter Court, Leonard Street, Mill Wynd, West Mill Street, Canal Street, Speygate, Charles Street, Scott Street, Back Wynd, Norrie Miller, Riverside Turning-Head, Canal Street multi-storey (Shopmobility operates from this car park).
Variable stay: Thimblerow, South Inch, Victoria Street, outwith Perth city.
In addition to the Free After Two scheme the council-operated car parks and on-street pay and display bays are free of charge on Sundays and also December 25-26 and January 1-2.
The Free After Two scheme is aimed at helping shoppers across Perth and Kinross this Christmas.
