A man who burnt a child’s goal set following neighbour trouble has been ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work.
David Craik, 25, of Garry Place, Bankfoot, also set fire to two children’s scooters and left a mark on a patio, Perth Sheriff Court heard.
Depute fiscal Carol Whyte said: “The complainer lives next door to the accused. She returned to her house and everything seemed in order, although she noticed the accused wondering around next door.
“Later on that day she noticed a large burn mark on the patio and saw a child’s goal set had been set on fire along with two scooters.
“The wheels of the goal set were burnt out. Police were called and the accused admitted the offence.”
The court was told there was £450 worth of damage.
Solicitor Billy Sommerville, defending, said there was “history” between the families but agreement had been made regarding reimbursement.
“My client has learned a salutary lesson,” he added.
Craik admitted the offence, which took place on September 16.
Sentencing Craik, Sheriff William Wood told him: “I have taken into account the circumstances but you were very frank about this. However, fire-raising is a very serious matter.”
Craik also has to pay compensation of £100 and will be supervised for six months.
