A body found near the Loch of the Lowes has been identified, a month after it was discovered near a path at the beauty spot.
A walker made the grim discovery of the body on April 25, not far from the nature reserve’s visitor centre, near Dunkeld.
It has now been identified as the remains of Joseph Edwin Reid, who was 69 and from Blyth in Northumbria.
A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said Mr Reid had been reported missing in September last year after last being seen in Newcastle on August 30, 2012. His family have been informed.
A police spokesman said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.
