Local hotels head awards list to find nation’s best

Hotels in Perthshire, Fife and Arran head the nominations in the first list of outstanding staff and management for Scotland’s national awards scheme.

Ballathie House Hotel at Kinclaven, near Perth, has six nominations in the Scottish Hotel Awards’ People of Excellence, while the Auchrannie Resort and Douglas Hotel on Arran and Balbirnie House Hotel at Markinch have five each.

A total of 70 employees from 30 hotels are being sent certificates after they were nominated by awards’ judges or managers in categories including management, service, receptionists, chefs, housekeeping, environmental policy, events, spas and weddings.

A second list will be drawn up between January and March.

Category winners and the industry’s top awards, including Hotel of the Year, will be announced at a dinner at the Sheraton Grand Hotel and Spa, Edinburgh, on Sunday April 27.
