Costly kebab for Perthshire farmer after he ‘lashed out’ at fellow customer
ByThe Courier Reporter
A farmer who gave a man a “back-handed” punch in the face in a kebab shop was yesterday fined £750 at Perth Sheriff Court.
Stephen McCord, 35, of Craigend, Methven, admitted that on December 20, 2014, at Turkish Kebab House, South Street, Perth, he punched a man on the head, causing him to fall to the ground.
He also admitted that, having been charged with the assault, he failed to appear at court on March 3 this year.
Yesterday, Depute Fiscal Robbie Brown said McCord and the complainer both waited in a queue for a kebab at 12.30am, when the other man was served first. McCord “lashed out,” giving the man a “back-handed” punch. Solicitor David Holmes said his client shouldn’t have landed the blow.
