Perth boy injured in freak mirror accident still in serious condition

A four-year-old boy remained seriously ill in hospital last night, after a freak accident at his great-grandparents’ home in Perth.
The youngster was badly cut when a heavy mirror collapsed on top of him as he played at the Nimmo Avenue property.
An artery in his leg was reportedly pierced and, according to neighbours, his heart had to be restarted twice by paramedics.
Emergency services were called to the home of great-grandparents Roger and Maureen McHarg just before 5pm on Tuesday. The youngster was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee before being transferred to Edinburgh’s Royal Hospital for Sick Children.
His condition was described as serious but stable.
The family’s landlord, Gary Coull, said: “They are a super family and he is a lovely little lad.
“We will just all have to keep our fingers crossed that everything goes OK for him.”
The boy’s parents, Louise McHarg and Alasdair Imrie, are keeping a bedside vigil.
