A 22-year-old from Perthshire has been invited to showcase his skills at a global motor event after preparing a precious “super car” once owned by Steve McQueen.
Callum Foster will travel to the Classic Motor Show next month after his abilities in precision cleaning caught the eye of luxury car aficionados from across the world.
When Callum, who runs Spotless Valeting and Detailing in Pitlochry, was selected for duty with multinational company Swissvax at a recent London event, he was shocked to be entrusted with McQueen’s Ferrari.
The brown metallic 1963 Ferrari 250 sold for $2.3 million at Christie’s Monterey Auction in 2007 and is regarded as the most beautiful ever built.
Only 350 were made and “King of Cool” McQueen, once the highest paid actor in the world, used it as his runaround car.
Despite understandable nerves, Callum presented the Great Escape actor’s car with aplomb, even removing all dirt from the engine bay with a brush measuring one inch.
Now he has been invited to prepare classic vehicles at the 30th anniversary of the Classic Motor Show in Birmingham in November.
The show will see more than 1,500 classic cars gather in one place, with tens of thousands of visitors expected to attend over the three days.
