A new venue that will bring music, comedy, theatre and art to the Carse of Gowrie is the latest phase in a real-life “country house rescue” story.
Lord and Lady Inchyra are behind Inchyra Arts Club.
The venue is a refurbished 1877 cattle byre on the Inchyra Estate, near Perth, in which Caroline and James Inchyra have invested heavily to restore its original glory, with vaulted timber roofs and rough stone and wood walls.
It has the capacity for 600 people standing, 450 in theatre style, and 240 people for table seated events.
Caroline said: “The renovation of The Byre has been a long, challenging project but the results have surpassed all expectations.
“It is a fantastic, multi-functional space, sitting in 150 acres of private park and woodland. With the £45 million development of the V&A at Dundee under way nearby, the Inchyra Arts Club will help put this beautiful area of Scotland firmly on the map as a cultural gem.”
The project has been given the local seal of approval by David Littlejohn, head of planning and regeneration at Perth and Kinross Council, who described it as “one of the most exciting additions to Perthshire’s leisure and business tourism portfolio for some time”.
Membership of the Inchyra Arts Club is currently free. It is not a requirement for booking tickets but membership will provide a heads-up about forthcoming events, early-booking discounts and special members-only events.
The new club is to be opened on Friday June 6 by MSP John Swinney and the following evening Glasgow indie band Kassidy will take to the stage as the first official booking for the club.
Comedians, cabaret artists and performers from around the globe big names as well as rising stars will be coming to the Inchyra Arts Club in the autumn, with the programme to be announced shortly.
Current bookings include singer/songwriters The New American Troubadors on Thursday July 3, and Jubovski, performing traditional music of Eastern European gypsies, on Wednesday July 16.
