A group of Travellers is resisting efforts by Perth and Kinross Council to move them on from a site they have been occupying on the outskirts of Perth.
Around half a dozen caravans and accompanying vehicles moved on to land owned by Perth and Kinross Council on the city’s Lamberkine Drive almost a fortnight ago.
Council officials asked the group to move on by the weekend but, while some did so, other members of the Travelling community took their place.
A second deadline that called upon them to vacate the site by 1pm on Tuesday afternoon has also now passed. The council may now look to enlist the help of Police Scotland in the event that the Travellers continue to refuse to move on.
Councillor Willie Wilson is unhappy at the occupation of the site.
He said: “A variety of concerns have been expressed to the council and myself regarding the continued presence of Travellers on this site.
“It still remains an unauthorised occupation of council land.”
