Call to secure Broxden site after travellers move on
ByThe Courier Reporter
Travellers who set up camp near Broxden Business Park have moved on.
Council officers had applied for legal sanction to move the caravans on under the Crime and Public Order Act (1994) on August 27.
Perth City South councillor Willie Wilson, who had pushed for the action, said: “The last of our temporary residents left on Monday night at 8pm approximately.
“There is an immediate need to block off the entrance to the site. Some of the local Oakbank residents have replaced the barriers across the entrance as best they can but I would recommend that a gate is supplied and fitted to the site and welded to the hinge.
“In addition, I understand Jake Eadie in (the council’s) roads (department) is considering concrete blocks and I would strongly support this suggestion.
“The two small cul-de-sacs off Tweed Place could also benefit from concrete blocks,” he added, and he has asked to be advised “when action is taken on this matter”.
Mr Wilson has also asked council officers to clear the site, which he says is “strewn with litter”.
