Police hunting hooded youths after ‘suspicious’ fire at Waverley Hotel in Perth

The fire which gutted Perth’s Waverley Hotel is being treated as suspicious.
Police are looking to trace two youths seen in the area shortly before the blaze started on Tuesday night.
At its height, 33 firefighters were brought in to tackle the blaze, which took around four hours to bring under control.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “We can confirm that the fire which happened at the derelict Waverley Hotel in York Place, Perth, is now being treated as suspicious.

“The fire took place at about 9.40pm on Tuesday and officers are keen to trace two youths who were wearing hooded tops and were seen in the vicinity of the hotel at the time.
“Officers would like to take this opportunity to remind the public that derelict buildings and properties that have fallen into disrepair, whether large or small, are not safe environments to be in.”
