The statues at the foot of Cairnwell before 'Maggie' was removed.
Mystery surrounds the location of a Glenshee statue after it was badly damaged earlier this year.
The piece by sculptor Malcolm Robertson, titled Tommy and Maggie, has sat at the foot of Cairnwell since the 1970s.
However, Maggie has gone missing following an accident with a snowplough last winter, though Tommy can still be seen on the mountainside albeit in a new position on the other side of the road.
The resin bronze sculpture of the elderly woman, which was covered in snow at the time, was crushed when the vehicle hit it.
A spokeswoman for Cairngorm National Park, which encompasses Glenshee, said she believed the statue was erected in a joint venture between the ski centre and the predecessor of Aberdeen Council, Grampian Council.
Landowners Invercauld Estate also drew a blank on who was responsible for the piece and its whereabouts.
Artist Malcolm Robertson could not be contacted for comment.
