Perth man’s mooning prank ended in assault and curfew
ByThe Courier Reporter
Fuelled by mischief a young Perth man leapt from a car to drop his trousers and moon at his friend’s home.
Unfortunately for Robert Hay his bottom was instead spotted by a neighbour who believed his bare faced cheek was directed at her.
As Tammy McGregor and her husband Terry left their house to remonstrate with him, the 21-year-old compounded his folly by assaulting the pair.
As the bizarre incident unfolded, Hay, of St Andrews Street, was seen to rummage through the car’s boot to throw the contents of a tool-box at his accusers.
A ratchet struck Mrs McGregor on the body, leaving her with a bruised abdomen, though she fortunately did not require medical attention.
Solicitor Paul Ralph told Perth Sheriff Court: “The mooning had in fact been aimed at a friend and it is unfortunate that this was seen by the complainer.”
Hay admitted carrying out the assault in St Andrews Street on September 1 and had sentence deferred until next month for the preparation of reports.
In the meantime, the public was protected from further full moon escapades after Hay was confined to his home between the hours of 7pm and 7am.
