Comrie woman ‘overwhelmed’ by husband’s life-changing Christmas gift
ByKatie Bletcher
The ultimate life-changing Christmas gift has been given by a Tayside man to his wife.
Billy Grierson has donated a kidney to his beloved wife, Lynn, after her 24-year battle with a debilitating illness.
Before her transplant operation Lynn, who has polycystic kidney disease, struggled to walk up the stairs and was facing dialysis.
But since her husband Billy gave her his kidney the couple have not looked back.
Lynn, from Comrie, said: “It’s overwhelming. It’s a wonderful gift and I can’t thank Billy enough.”
Retired firefighter Billy had attended almost every appointment throughout the years as Lynn’s condition was monitored at Ninewells Hospital.
When he heard about the success stories of live donors he did not think twice about the move, adding: “Lynn and I never discussed it. I would always have done it.”
After months of tests the transplant was carried out in Edinburgh.
