St Johnstone kitman Tommy Campbell was kept in hospital following a suspected heart attack during the weekend home game against Hearts.
Mr Campbell, known as TC, was taken to Perth Royal Infirmary (PRI) by ambulance after he was given emergency treatment from the club doctor during the match at McDiarmid Park, which finished 3-3.
He is now home and recovering.
A heart attack led to his decision to bow out of management nine years ago when he took up the youth development manager role with the Perth club.
On Sunday, St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright said: “I spoke to his wife, Irene, and she said TC had a restless night. He is being kept in for tests and observation and it goes without saying that everyone at the club is wishing him and his family well.
“Tommy hadn’t felt well before kick-off and the doc had a look at him during the game. There was a lot happening and I was so caught up in the match I didn’t realise anything untoward had happened until later.”
Speaking after the match, Hearts boss Gary Locke said: “Although it was a great game, everyone at Heart of Midlothian’s thoughts go out to the St Johnstone kitman.
“He had a suspected heart attack there. There are a lot more important things than football.”
Scores of St Johnstone fans took to Facebook to pass on their best wishes to Campbell.
Craig Lindsay said: “Here’s to a speedy recovery TC.”
And Les Macqueen added: “Best wishes to TC has been a great servant to the club get well soon.”
