Scotland’s first chocolate festival has kicked off in Perth.
Provost Liz Grant welcomed the traders to King Edward Street on the first day of the event.
The Perth Chocolate Festival is a major feature of the Perth Christmas lights switch-on weekend celebrations and will run until Sunday.
The event is a must for chocolate fans, with a range of the finest sweet treats from around the UK on offer.
Some of the country’s top chocolatiers are taking part and wares on sale will include high-quality chocolate, as well as cupcakes, candy, marshmallows, personalised chocolate bars, candles and soaps.
There will also be hands-on workshops, talks and live demonstrations by chocolatiers.
Mrs Grant said: “I’ve had a wander around the Chocolate Festival and it really is marvellous anyone who likes chocolate will be in paradise.
“As well as tasting some wonderful chocolate, visitors can also pick up some unique Christmas gifts.
“I’d like to welcome all the traders and chocolatiers to Perth and I’m sure that people will love what they have to offer.
“It’s absolutely fabulous, we’ve got some wonderfully inventive chocolatiers and some of the chocolates are beautifully decorated.”
She added: “Chocolate at 11 in the morning can’t be bad I’m the envy of all my colleagues at the council.”
The Chocolate Festival will be in full swing on Saturday for the big Christmas lights switch-on party in Perth city centre.
As well as the festival there will be a host of street entertainment, street food, an outdoor ice rink, a festive outdoor cinema, ice-sculpting, funfair rides, top music acts and a celebrity lights switch-on.
